Termanthia 2010

April 2013

Termanthia 2010

The 2010 Termanthia is broody and introspective on the nose, the aromatics almost cowering following the 2009. The palate is full-bodied and robust with good weight.
This is perhaps the most powerful Termanthia that I have encountered with waves of ripe dark cherries, cassis and blueberry washing over the palate, fanning out towards a dense, peppermint-tinged finish. This is a lovely wine.

Termanthia 2009

The 2009 Termanthia has a fragrant bouquet of dark berries, mulberry, juniper and lavender, with vanilla-tinged notes emanating from the oak. The palate is full-bodied with firm but quite fine tannins, plus a fine sense of symmetry. It is very sweet with plenty of candied orange peel and even a hint of molasses towards the succulent, fleshy, slightly spicy finish. This is sleek and sensual and deserves five years, perhaps more, in the cellar. Drink 2017-2030.

Termanthia 2009

This Toro wine is a mindblower. The nose is exemplary: it bursts with smooth, rooty aromas of licorice, kirsch and roasted black plum. The palate is huge and tannic but luxurious, and the flavors of tobacco, cedar, lemon peel, spice and black fruit set up a finish with espresso, black cherry and a wall of tannins.

Termanthia 2009

This powerful red shows structure and grace, with massive tannins supporting ripe fruit braced by lively acidity and plenty of oak. Plum, cassis, black pepper, anise and mineral notes mingle in a sleek, firm texture. A big wine in the modern style.

Termanthia 2008

The 2008 Termanthia is a glass-coating opaque purple color. It reveals an already complex bouquet, rich, ripe fruit with underlying structure, and a more forward personality than is found in a great year such as 2004. This loaded effort will benefit from 6-8 years of cellaring and will offer a drinking window extending from 2017 to 2033. The new releases of Numanthia- Termes are outstanding.

November 2011

Termanthia 2008

Lush and classy, with earthy blackberry, hard spice, chocolate and lemon peel aromas. The palate is a mile deep and tannic, but it’s not too hard or mean, and it tastes fantastic, with ripe blackberry, chocolate, spice and toast flavors. Complex and masculine, with tobacco and woodspice on the finish.

April 2010

Termanthia 2007

The 2007 Termanthia is, like the 2007 Numanthia, a bit more accessible than its 2006 counterpart. That is to say that it should begin to become civilized with a mere 6-8 years of cellaring and should offer a drinking window extending from 2016 to 2037.

January 2010

Termanthia 2007

This alluring red packs of lot of flavor into a plush texture, with boysenberry, floral, cinnamon, licorice and smoke notes. It's firm, fresh and balanced, with a long, focused finish.

Termanthia 2006

Top 100 Cellar Selections 2009: Position 67
Termanthia is the pinacle of Tinta de Toro. Aromas of wild blackberry crude oil, forest floor and truffles are just now showing themselves, while the tight, tannic palate is full of black plum, blackberry and bitter chocolate flavors. Espresso and roast meat notes grace the dark, jam-packed finish, and as a whole this is one bold, boisterous wine.
