Lucas Löwi - Estate Director

Luca's passion and immersion into the wine world has always been a family affair, born in Mendoza, at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, in Argentina, a region famous for its Malbec, planted in altitude vineyards. Lucas started his career in the wine industry in Argentina in the Peñaflor Group and in 2007 he joined The Moët Hennessy Wine Division, being responsible for the wines development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Lucas moved to Spain in 2015 in order to face the great challenge of leading Bodega Numanthia, the Spanish jewel owned by LVMH in Toro. As Estate Director of Bodega Numanthia, Lucas seeks to preserve its heritage, a unique legacy composed by century-old ungrafted vineyards: with the vision of offering wines recognized as the reference from the Toro DO, on par with the best wines from Spain. Lucas won the leadership award "Premio Jovenes Mendocinos Destacados 2017" from the CEM (Consejo Empresario Mendocino) due to his achievements abroad.

Jesus Jimenez - Technical Director

Coming from La Mancha, based in the Spanish Province of Toledo, Jesus Jimenez spent his first years in the family winery where he learnt precious values such as the respect for hard working and perfectionist people. He began working for a grant project dealing with water usage in vineyards and other culture, after completing two degrees as Agricultural Engineer and a Viticulture and Enology Master Degree, delivered by UNESCO. Three years later, in 2003, he got hired as Viticulture Director and then as Technical Director by the Los Nevados winery, based in Ciudad Real. He enjoyed this position until meeting with François Lurton and Michel Rolland, who promoted him as Technical Director in the Rueda and Toro region. After a short stay in Majorqua, heading to the Castell Miquel winery, Jesus joined Bodega Numanthia as Technical Director, facing the great challenge of looking for the perfect balance between the greatness of centenary wines, the sandy soils and the extreme climate typical from Toro’s region. His aim in this exceptional terroir is to craft elegant and unique wines.

Alejandro Vicente - Vineyards Manager

Alejandro Vicente was born in the Toro region and grew up working at his family farm, where he fell in love with the countryside. He decided to pursue his passion by studying Technical Agriculture Engineering and Oenology. Meanwhile, Alejandro worked for several wineries, including Bodega Numanthia in 2008. Thirsty for knowledge, he worked for a Research Institute (ITACyL) as Vineyard Technician where he studied in-depth the viticulture specific to regional and international grape varieties. Alejandro obtained a PhD grant, splitting his time between Spain and South Africa to study the physiology of grapevines. This long but exciting academic career led him to a PhD in Oenology, Viticulture and Sustainability. After working in the viticulture group of Valladolid University, Alejandro joined Bodega Numanthia in 2018, inheriting the challenge of protecting an exceptional legacy of centenarian vines. Every day, Alejandro carefully attends to the needs of these unique vines in order for them to give the best grapes of impeccable quality – the first step to obtaining elegant and perfectly balanced wines.

Marine Roussel - Winemaking & Viticulturist Assistant

Marine was born in Aveyron, South of France, and grew up close to Montpellier, in the heart of Pic Saint-Loup’s vineyard. Living in the countryside and raised by a wine-lover father, she developed a passion for both nature and wine. Therefore, she decided to specialize in Viticulture and Enology and after 6 years of study, she graduated from Montpellier Sup Agro school and became an oenologist and agricultural engineer. During her studies, she had the opportunity to work in several wine regions such as Pommard (Burgundy), Napa Valley (California) and Mendoza (Argentina). Then, she conducted several researches on clonal selection of Cabernet Sauvignon, at Château Montrose, in Saint-Estèphe where she worked for two years in a R&D role. In 2019, she fell in love with the centenarian vineyards of Bodega Numanthia. She decided to join the team and started to participate in the preservation of this uncommon legacy. Very involved in all matters related to sustainability and biodiversity, she aims at understanding the behavior of the vines within Bodega Numanthia’s terroirs, and crafting unique and elegant wines, in a way that respects the environment.
